July 4 Independence day celebration
In what many believe is shaping up to be the best possible regatta ever, the Three Rivers Regatta and the Western Pennsylvania Boater's Regatta have joined forces to stage a four-day Fourth of July Celebration of Pittsburgh's Three Rivers. The regatta will run from Friday, July 2, through Monday, July 5, featuring virtually every recreational boating activity imaginable, including a lighted boat parade (offering $1,750 in prize money), the Keystone State Grand Masters rowing championship, Dragon Boat Races, a hot boat parade, personal watercraft races and stunt shows, a Bassmasters-type fishing contest, a land-based fishing contest, kayak and canoe races, a poker run, sailboat races, nightly concerts in the park, the traditional Anything that Floats race, two nights of spectacular fireworks displays, and much, much more. The four-day-long Independence Day holiday weekend is promising to be one of the greatest recreational boating outings ever -- one that serious boaters won't want to miss.
